I found this Locavore's Pledge on Little Homestead in the City's blog. It give great guidance for balancing sustainable eating, convenience, availability and indulging on occasion. In order from most sustainable to less sustainable.
Consume foods (or other goods) produced, grown or sold...
1. In your backyard
2. By a local farmer or artisan
3. Organically
4. On a family farm
5. By a local (or small) business
6. via Fair Trade Certified practices
Coupling this list with the Dirty Dozen Guide and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood guide you will be well on your way to a sustainable dinner plate.

Know when to go to the O(rganics)
Thnx to Em for sending me this handy guide to avoiding produce pesticides. http://www.foodnews.org/sneak/EWG-shoppers-guide.pdf
Save some dough and avoid those hormone interrupting pesticides - buy the Dirty Dozen in organics and the Cleanest 15 in conventionally grown produce.
See what their saying about the guide on Huff Post...
