Hump Day Consumption

Gala Apple Juice
Soy and Flax Cereal with Soy Milk
Decaf Black Tea
One large Banana with Walnuts and Cashews
Blackened Mahi Mahi Wrap with Asparagus
Four of Eight rolls of Spicy Tuna Sushi
(not pictured 'cause I forgot: mini fudge chocolate cake, two Kumquats, garlic fries, Marzen Beer, Lemonade)

Hmmm...this was an interesting exercise. A picture of what I put into my body. This picture journaling could be applied to one's spending habits, time management, or how much waste your create. Imagine if we had to photo journal how we spent our money or time each day. I think I'd be safe on the money front, but time management I'm not so confident there.

Waste production is an area of my life that I have become more aware of. Typically the more we consume (food or otherwise) the more waste (unwanted byproducts) we leave behind. Off the top here's a list of the waste I created today in relation to what I ate.

Banana peel (no composting at work)
Tea bag wrapper
Soy milk box
Half of a tortilla from my fish wrap
5 Asparagus
6 oz of Beer
8 oz of Lemonade
16 oz of undrunk water at lunch

Wow what a waste. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have the resources to not only consume but to have abundance and choice in that consumption. But at what cost? The eco-impact of my consumption is something that I attempt to pare down everyday.

How do I reduce my inputs into the waste stream? Ooooo, I feel a posting on my adventures in composting coming on...
